Healthcare is one of the cornerstones of any nation, and here in St. Maarten, we are blessed with a team of medical professionals whose dedication and service continue to make a lasting impact on our community. I would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the hardworking nurses and medical staff of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC), especially those in the Dialysis Department, for their unwavering commitment to patient care.
Having personally traveled to Santo Domingo, Panama, and Colombia, I have had the opportunity to observe healthcare systems in various countries. I can say with great pride that the professionalism, compassion, and efficiency demonstrated by our nurses and healthcare staff in St. Maarten are among the very best. The service provided at SMMC not only meets high medical standards but also reflects the genuine care and humanity that define our island.
The St. Maarten Medical Center continues to strengthen its operations through a strong partnership with the Netherlands and Curaçao. The ongoing doctor and nurse rotation program between these territories has proven highly beneficial, bringing valuable expertise, improving care quality, and ensuring that our patients receive top-tier medical attention close to home.
St. Maarten is also proud to have one of the best health insurance systems in the region. My sincere appreciation goes out to the dedicated team at Social and Health Insurances (SZV), who continue to provide outstanding service and support to our residents. Your commitment to assisting those in need and ensuring access to healthcare is deeply valued.
