GREAT BAY--The Ministry of Justice is finalizing new statistical reports on crime trends. Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling on Wednesday shared a small preview focused on robberies involving the use of a firearm and the approach for the upcoming high season. Preliminary data indicate that robberies with the use of a firearm were higher in 2024 than they are so far in 2025.
The pattern has changed in 2025. Incidents have shifted toward targets such as jewelry stores and hotels. Earlier patterns included Chinese supermarkets and some home invasions. These shifts, the Minister said, make incidents feel more visible to the public, even where the year to date counts are lower.
The Ministry is validating figures through the end of 2024 and the current period in 2025. A full statistical release will follow after quality checks are complete. The Ministry is also preparing a targeted plan for the high season. "You will see actions in the coming days, weeks, and months," she said.
