GREAT BAY--The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has officially unveiled the winning design for the Carnival 55 Logo Competition. The vibrant and dynamic design, titled “Carnival in Motion,” was created by local graphic designer Jeanelle Hunt-Mardembrough, who captured the true essence of St. Maarten’s biggest annual celebration.
Hunt-Mardembrough’s design will serve as the official logo for Carnival 2026, which will run from April 10, 2026, to May 5, 2026. The logo will appear on all official Carnival merchandise, promotions, and digital platforms as the island celebrates 55 years of cultural unity, music, and revelry.
Explaining her creative vision, Hunt-Mardembrough said: “My idea behind the ‘55’ design was swirling forms that feel like carnival, tropical waters, and festival ribbons in motion. This suggests St. Maarten's spirit is alive and constantly evolving. The swirling forms depict dancers in motion, flowing costumes, powder being thrown during J’ouvert morning, and the infectious rhythm that makes carnival participants move like water. It’s carnival as a living, breathing celebration that flows through the streets and into people’s souls.”
SCDF extended its congratulations to Hunt-Mardembrough for her creative contribution and noted that her artwork perfectly reflects the energy and vibrancy that define St. Maarten Carnival.
In addition, the foundation announced that the official Carnival 2026 schedule will be released on Wednesday, giving revelers, promoters, and stakeholders a first look at the full lineup of events for the 55th anniversary edition.
“Now that we have our look, we’re ready to unveil what promises to be one of the most exciting Carnival seasons yet,” SCDF said. For more information, visit the SCDF’s official platforms and stay tuned for Wednesday’s schedule release.
