GREAT BAY--The University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez (UoC) has added the 2025 edition of Capita Selecta; Caribisch Fiscaal Recht to its Law School library in St. Maarten. The book was officially presented by tax advisor Quincy Lont during a brief handover at the Law School’s location in the Brooks Tower Building.

Accepting the book on behalf of the Law School was Ms. Eunelda Cairo, who welcomed the addition as a valuable academic resource for law students and faculty alike.

The volume, edited by Dr. Germaine Rekwest, provides an in-depth and practical overview of tax law in the Dutch Caribbean. It covers topics relevant to Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, the Caribbean Netherlands, and Suriname. The 2025 edition reflects recent legal developments and changes in fiscal policy, making it a timely contribution to legal education in the region.

Contributors include a diverse team of seasoned tax professionals from both the Caribbean and the Netherlands. Among them are Marco Aalbers and Quincy Lont, who have extensive experience in Sint Maarten’s tax system and continue to support local legal education through their writing and practice.

Since 2019, UoC has offered a Bachelor’s program in Law, which expanded in 2021 to include a (pre-)Master’s program in Tax Law. Both programs are accessible to students based in Sint Maarten. To support students in these programs, the library has added valuable new resources. The latest edition of Capita Selecta; Caribisch Fiscaal Recht is expected to become a useful reference for those studying Dutch Caribbean tax law.

The St. Maarten division of the Law School operates from the top floor of the Brooks Tower Building in Harbour View. This facility, equipped with modern infrastructure, serves as a hub for student engagement, administrative services, and academic development.

In receiving the book, Ms. Cairo thanked the authors and editor for their continued commitment to legal education in the Dutch Caribbean. Students are encouraged to explore the text as part of their studies and professional preparation.

Capita Selecta; Caribisch Fiscaal Recht is published by Wolters Kluwer and available online through the publisher’s official platform.
