GREAT BAY--On the occasion of Justice Week, Member of Parliament Sjamira Roseburg expressed deep gratitude, respect, and unwavering support to the men and women working across St. Maarten’s justice sector. In her statement, MP Roseburg said, “This Justice Week, I don’t just want to acknowledge you. I want to speak from the heart, directly to yours. Because I see you.”
Speaking directly to the emotional and physical challenges faced by justice workers, she recognized the ongoing sacrifices made under difficult conditions: “I see the weight you carry. I see the sacrifices that go unseen, the silent battles behind your eyes, and the strength it takes to keep showing up even when the system feels like it’s not showing up for you.”
Acknowledging the reality of burnout and frustration, MP Roseburg emphasized the unwavering dedication of justice personnel: “Still, you show up. Not just for a paycheck, but for our country. For our people. For justice. That kind of loyalty comes from something deeper than duty. That comes from heart.”
As Chairlady of Parliament’s Justice Committee, MP Roseburg pledged to continue advocating for those working in the justice chain: “Let me say this clearly: the justice system cannot function without you. Every role you play, whether in uniform, behind a desk, on patrol, at a checkpoint, or quietly in the background, matters. You are not just part of the system. You are its foundation.”
She further added, “Your strength in the face of long-standing challenges deserves more than praise. It deserves respect, acknowledgment, and action.”
She stressed her commitment to the justice sector: “I am here. I hear you. I stand with you. I will continue to do my part to raise your concerns, to support where I can, and to keep showing up just as you do. I am just one call away. And you will never have to stand alone.”
Justice Week serves as an opportunity to reflect on the vital work carried out by the men and women who uphold the rule of law.
