COLE BAY--Motorworld has officially welcomed Chery as its newest automotive brand, introducing it to St. Maarten and the wider region with a culture-focused launch event that attracted more than 1,000 guests. The evening marked the public debut of Chery’s complete Tiggo SUV range, featuring the Tiggo 2, Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9. Guests also witnessed the first reveal of the Tiggo 4 Hybrid, the first in a series of electrified models that Chery plans to roll out.
The launch carries regional significance for Motorworld. The company has been appointed Chery’s regional distributor for 24 Caribbean territories, with St. Maarten serving as the starting point for a series of upcoming introductions of the brand across the Caribbean.
St. Martin’s culture shaped the atmosphere from the moment guests arrived. Live steel pan music greeted attendees and set a distinctly Caribbean tone for the evening. A parade of dancers in colorful traditional and carnival-inspired costumes moved through the venue, creating the feel of a community celebration while marking an important milestone for the automotive sector.
Food and local creativity were also central to the event. A lively food court brought together local vendors serving a variety of creative dishes. Inside, visitors explored a marketplace-style display of artwork and locally made products, including paintings, photography, jewelry, beauty items, candles, and crafts. The display highlighted the talents of the island’s entrepreneurs and creators.
Alongside the cultural showcase, the event gave guests an in-depth introduction to the Chery brand. Attendees learned more about the company’s story, watched vehicle demonstrations, and had the opportunity to test drive the Tiggo SUVs.
Motorworld Group Chairman Tariq Amjad shared his appreciation for the response to the launch. “The turnout, energy, and support from the community were incredible. After years of hard work to bring Chery to the island and the wider Caribbean, seeing this launch come together was truly rewarding,” said Amjad.
Chery enters the Caribbean market with established global credentials and a focus on value. It has been China’s top automotive exporter for 22 consecutive years, building an international reputation for quality, safety, and advanced engineering. For the past three years, 2023, 2024, and 2025, Chery has also been recognized by J.D. Power as China’s highest-rated domestic brand for quality. The brand arrives with what is described as the Caribbean’s best warranty package: 7 years or 200,000 kilometers of bumper to bumper coverage, along with a 10-year or 1 million kilometer engine warranty.
Motorworld invites the community to visit its showroom to view the full Chery lineup, take a closer look at the Tiggo SUVs, and experience for themselves why Chery is counted among the world’s fastest-growing automotive brands.
