AIRPORT--In a move that signals growing demand and confidence in the destination, American Airlines will expand its Philadelphia–St. Maarten route from once-weekly to daily service during the upcoming winter season. The increase begins December 18, 2025, perfectly timed for the peak holiday travel period.
This is a major win for St. Maarten’s tourism and business sectors, offering travelers more flexibility and connectivity from a key U.S. hub. American Airlines serves more destinations from Philadelphia (PHL) than any other airline, and with this expansion, St. Maarten (SXM) joins the list of high-priority Caribbean destinations for the carrier this winter.
The airline will operate more than 430 peak daily departures to 97 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America this winter, a 10% seat increase over the previous year. Nearly 2.3 million roundtrip seats will be offered to the region during the December holiday season alone.
“American is giving travelers more options to get away this winter,” said Philippe Puech, Director of International Network Planning. “We’re thrilled to offer more flights to popular destinations like St. Maarten, allowing even more customers to experience the island’s incredible culture and natural beauty.”
Tickets for the new daily service between Philadelphia and St. Maarten will be available starting July 14 at aa.com or via the American Airlines mobile app.
